Dr. Avi Weisfogel is a former dentist and is currently working as the Owner of the International Academy of Sleep. He graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in biology and then went on to the New York University College of Dentistry where he earned a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. In 1999, Dr. Weisfogel founded Old Bridge Dental Care, a dental office that he operated for more than 15 years. During his time running Old Bridge Dental Care, Dr. Weisfogel earned a number of awards from the surrounding community, including the coveted ‘Best Dentist’ award.
While running this practice, Dr. Weisfogel began to learn more about sleep and sleeping disorders and how to treat them. As Dr. Weisfogel began to discover, there are a number of innovative techniques and methods that can be used to treat various sleep disorders. Eager to explore how he could make a difference in the world of sleep, Dr. Weisfogel founded Healthy Heart Sleep. Through this company, he worked with doctors from across the globe to help them establish and manage sleep laboratories.
Over the next few years, Dr. Avi Weisfogel founded several other businesses that focused on giving dentists the knowledge and equipment to diagnose and treat various sleep disorders. Dr. Weisfogel is now operating the International Academy of Sleep out of Union, New Jersey, a business that specializes in offering only the newest and most effective treatments to dentists and patients around the world.
The International Academy of Sleep is an organization that endeavors to spread awareness and understanding of this common and mostly undiagnosed and untreated sleep disorder. Through our educational resources, we strive to educate the public on sleep apnea, its iterations, symptoms, risk factors and treatments.
Life Outside of Business
Outside of work, Dr. Avi Weisfogel is a passionate skier and sports fan. Avi has been skiing since he was just 4 years old, spending time every year in Aspen, Colorado, and other cold destinations. Growing up, Avi was taken to Snowmass, Colorado, regularly as his father attended cardiology conferences there. It was during these early years that Avi developed a love for the slopes. There is a freedom found on the ski slopes that is unlike anything else. Avi relishes his time there because it allows him to really hear his own thoughts and put things into perspective. As he is now living in New Jersey, Avi has been spending much more time skiing in Killington, Vermont, a much closer winter getaway spot.
If there is one other thing that Avi is passionate about, it’s sports. Avi is a major fan and frequent watcher of all four major American sports: hockey, basketball, football, and hockey. In fact, Avi never misses a Dodgers’ game. While watching games, Avi is in constant communication with both his father and his youngest son via text. A small project Avi hopes to complete one day is turning all of these text messages into a book about the life of a Dodgers’ fan.
